Shorcut or Link to Run Outlook from Sharepoint

Hello,
It might be difficult to set it up. in a Links webpart you are only able to actually point to a hyperlink. Are you running Windows SharePoint Services or SharePoint Portal Server?
For the portal, you have a webpart for outlook webaccess, but for that you will have to be running Microsoft Exchange as a mailserver.
How come you want to be able to open outlook from within SharePoint?
