Shell keeps restarting!

Hi,

I have a problem with a 2000 Pro laptop - every OTHER time I open My Computer or Windows Explorer or Control Panel etc. - explorer.exe will crash and restart.

I can then open the item fine, once. Then it will crash when I try the second time!

(EG: I can open control panel, then the shell will restart if I try windows explorer)

Event log shows: The shell stopped unexpectedly and Explorer.Exe was restarted.

Norton, with latest definitions can find nothing.

Anybody got any ideas where to look next?!
