I am in the process of evaluating a program called WorkGroup Share which allows sharing of Outlook .pst files without going to the expense or brain damage of buying Exchange server. In order for the program to work you need to designate one machine as a "server" which in my case is best accomplished with a Win XP Pro box. After installing the program on the "server" you need to install a client on each machine that will be sharing files. That's where I am running into the problem in that you cannot access the Net Client install program which resides in the folder "Program Files" via the network without getting an Access Denied error. I suppose that I could install WorkGroup Share program outside the Program Files folder but I would prefer not doing that in the interest of consistancy.

Is there any way to share the folder "Program Files" over the netwok from a Win XP pro machine?

Thanks

`JB

Right click on "Program Files"

-> properties
-> sharing
-> Share this folder

Go into permissions and add who you want to access it.

Last note.

While Exchange is not the cheapest or easiest solution, it does work well even in very complicated settings.

You might also look at the IBM/Lotus Domino product.
