Hello All,

PC using Windows XP latest SPs, connected to a Window Server 2003. Home system, so nothing too complex setup.

PC has 2 Hard drives, with about 4 NTFS partitions each. (I like it that way because I have more control)

All my applications are installed on my D: drive. Recently checked the Sharing And Security - Security tab and saw that for Group/User names - Everyone - there was Full Control.

Wanted to change that to remove "Everyone" and add my Login (which is an admin) and also Admins.

Problem is I can't. Each time I try to make change (like adding Users) and apply it. The dialog just hangs there with hourglass mouse spinning around. Have let it sit for 20 min or more.

Any ideas on how I can change this

Thanks

Toodles,

After the 20 minute wait what did you do, and when you did it was there any message?

What are the Permissions set for on the Paging File?

Paging File Functionality Requires System Account Permissions and Proper Size

By Default the Everyone Group should not have any access rights other than a check in the Special Permissions box.

If you look at the Effective Permissions Tab via the Advanced Button, you should see that the special permissions granted to the Everyone Group is -

Traverse Folder/ Execute File
List Folder/ Read Data
Read Attributes
Read Permissions

Can you do anything from Safe Mode about Permissions without freezing?

Anything nasty in the Event Viewer?
