I have 2 locations that both have a PC running Windows 2000 with 2 network cards. One card is connected to a LAN with a WAN between the two locations and this has a domain which the W2K PC's log into. The other card is connected to an independent workgroup of Windows 95/98 PC’s at each site.
95Wgroup--W2K—LAN~~WAN~~LAN—W2K—95Wgroup
----OK--------- -------------OK-------------- ------Bad------
I need to share a directory on the respective W2K PCs with their workgroup PC’s on their local LANs and the other W2K PC on the LAN/WAN.
I have created a username and password on the W2K PC’s and given the user permission to access the shared drive, this only needs to happen over the workgroup to its local W2K PC. If I log in the ’95 PC’s with this username and password at one end there is no problem, but the other end it does not work.
It is possible that the end that works is not actually logged into the domain and this may be why it works there.
Has anybody got any ideas how to solve this problem?
