Ok, I am new to win 2K and I want to set up a server at home to "Share the Internet" I am using a Cable modem and the server will be doing DHCP and File and Print Server.
I don't know how to make the server share the internet,
so far I have 2 nics on the server, 1 is getting an IP from my ISP the second one is static, do I have to enable routing? HELP!!
It wasn't me, it was someone that looks a lot like me . . . .

you have 2 choices, ICS (internet connection sharing) or RRAS (routing and remote access service). RRAS is much more robust settings-wise. ICS is much easier if you just have a simple network setup...

Just as bronto said... if you are new to W2K, use Internet connection sharing. If you view your network connections, and right-click on the connection to your ISP, and then Properties, you should have a tab with a choice to "share this connection with other computers on the network" or something like that. I use XP at home, and this is what you get following the above steps. If I remember correctly, W2K is very similar.
When the wizard starts, you will be asked if you want to create a network installation disk... do this on a floppy and use it on the other computers in the home. You will also be asked if you want to set the "internal" TCP/IP settings to 192.168.0.1
You must select yes... I think you can change afterward, but unless you have a good reason to do so, there is no need. The Floppy disk for the other computers will use the same IP range...

Will

OK, I did try ICS before with Win 2k (not server) and it was kind of flaky, I did not like it, Does anyone know where can I find more detail on how to set up RRAS on my network?
