The accountants for our business are a self contained office within our building, although they are a separate company that happen to use our 2003 SBS network for email and shared files.

They have just told us (with no consultation) that for confidentiality reasons, they have bought their own 2003 SBS server and will become a completely separate network with their own ADSL, hub etc.

In principal, of course, there is no issue - just pull their cables out of our patch panel and they can do what they like. However, they have not considered that we all share the Sage data files, which are on OUR 2003 SBS server.

I am aware of the restrictions on multiple domains that involve SBS, but would it still be possible to share the Sage files? It crossed my mind that it could be done with a separate PC for the files, but then we have subdomain issues.

Thanks.

It's no problem if you have them VPN into your server. Just maintain their current user accounts (which requires that you maintain user CALs for each user) and they can access easily with a VPN connection.

They need to have their new network configured with a different IP Subnet so as not to cause any conflicts.

Thanks Jeffrey. Of course, an obvious solution, just takes someone else to see the wood for the trees!
