Does anybody know where I can get a sample shareware licence agreement template from to add to the installer of my program? (All the agreements I've seen are between a company and an end user rather than an individual (i.e. me!) and the end user.)

Thanks!

Dan

That is because if you intend to sell this software you'll probably need a company in most countries.
If you don't want to give it away it is Freeware.

Hope I've been helpful,

If you want a tested and comprehensive Shareware licence agreement, why not look at the agreements for some existing successful Shareware programs? Download trial copies of a few, and see what their agreements say.

I once published some shareware with a 'plain and simple' agreement. I wan't out to 'make a million', just to sell a few copies in the spirit of shareware. I just added this Registration page to my program's help file:

Registration

If you are using a registered copy of 'Program Name', thank you for registering with me. If you are using an evaluation copy, please register after 14 days if you wish to continue to use it.

The conditions of use are simple: you may use 'Program Name' as an individual, on more than one PC if you have them, but you may not sell, hire or give copies of the registered version of 'Program Name', to anyone else.

If you show 'Program Name' to friends or colleagues, and they like the program, please encourage them to register with me as well. Registration encourages Shareware authors to update and maintain their programs.

I encouraged registration by sending registered users a larger database (the program solved word puzzles by reading a database of words) and embedded their name and address in their registered .EXE file. Perhaps you can think of a way to make the evaluation version of your program restricted in some areas, to encourage people to 'sign up' for the full version.

I hope that this gives you a few useful ideas.
