I'm currently running Networker 7.2.1, and just got tasked with backing up an inherited Sharepoint system.

If I'm reading the docs right, I have to be at least 7.3 to use the Sharepoint module for Networker, I don't seem to be able to find anything that indicates the module exists for 7.2. Is this true?

I do have an upgrade planned to 7.3, but that's scheduled for September, and management wants a solution in place ASAP.

It seems that Sharepoint uses a database backend, so assuming that's an MS SQL Server, could I use an MSSQL module to grab it at a database level as a stopgap until I upgraded to 7.3?

This depends on what version of sharepoint you are using?

If it is sharepoint 2000, then the NetWorker backup client saveset is SHAREPOINT:. This needs a sharepoint license.

If this is sharepoint 2003 or later, then this is backed up using NetWorker module for SQL. Any version of NetWorker 7.x should be ok.

EMC also has another product called EBMS (EMC Backup Module for Sharepoint) that can be used to backup the entire sharepoint environment, not just the database backend. This is separate from NetWorker. You can find documentaion and binaries at Powerlink.emc.com
