Dear all,

On to my local machine (a Win2K Pro), I have installed both the client and server parts of two different versions of a specific n-tier CRM software. This software is highly configurable and uses so-called forms to provide a GUI for the end users who would be logging in calls to the system.

My questions are regarding an issue that occured some time ago when having both versions up-an-running at the same time; basically, it seemed as if modifications created on a form belonging to one of the versions was displaying on the
other.

The questions I have are:

-could this be related to a problem with the way the application uses shared memory?
-and in that case, how could one go about troubleshooting it further (e.g. is there a utility that would help)?

thanks in advance,

I have no answer but would ask if the program is designed to be installed that way? All the server/client software I've installed had to go on the type of computer they were designed for, i.e. server part went on a server, client part went on a workstation. Some software installs on a server but can't be used from there, has to be accessed from a workstation.

yes, this program can be installed so that both parts (the server executable and the client executable) are located on the same machine (but if using a MS OS, it should be either a NT or W2K).

Normally (even when everthing is installed locally) the connection is handled over TCP/IP (the server part has to be assigned a free port number), but I was wondering whether the two parts might also use shared memory when on the same machine.

cheers,

Jarmo
