I am setting up Debian Linux on my home machine. I want to set it up so it is multi-user (separate accounts for my wife and I), rather than one account we both use (so we can have our own settings, menus, etc.).

My question is, where do I store documents and files that we'll share (i.e. photos, and GnuCash files)? I'm sure that there is a standard way of doing this, I just don't know what it is.

Thanks!

You can really put it wherever you want, but it mostly depends on how you partitioned your drive. If there was a standard way of doing it, it would probably be to create a folder called either /var/shared or /home/shared and set it to world readable/writable.
