share documents and settings ??? 3

i have a small windows xp pro workgroup network and ive set sharing no probs but want to know can you get access to the documents and settings folder ?.

Not without special efforts, as the folders for each profile under that folder are nominally private, even to the Adminstrator.

Which machine on your small network are you referring to?

The local Administrators will normally have access to these folders on their machine if the access permissions are set accordingly via the Security Tab. You have to turn off "use simple file sharing" via Folder Options/ View to get to the Security Tab.

If you are talking about inter machine access to these user folders then they must be shared and the permissions set for users via the Security Tab as well as by the Sharing Tab/ Permissions. However it is a risky business sharing these type of user profile folders.
 
@Linney - thanx for the information, I needed this one today... I just rebuild Windows and had a few old Profile Folders flying around that I needed access to... saved me from 'FORMAT C:'...
