Shadow T-1

Hello;

We have a Cisco 1700 with 2 WIC cards; one for our internet and the other is a shadow T-1. I am told that this shadow has not worked since it has been set up (just started here.) How do you set up a shadow on the Cisco 1700? Checked with the Telco to make sure the shadow circuit is live.

..hey what is shadow? redundancy perhaps?
...if shadow is a redundant t-1 are you using a default route to your isp like below?

ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 1.1.1.1 1

...then i guess you could use a floating static route like below with your different next hops to isp..

R1(config)#ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 172.1.1.1(next hop) 1 (distance metric)
R1(config)#ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 172.2.2.2(next hop) 121 (distance metric)

..when there is no route to 172.1.1.1...traffic will be routed to 172.2.2.2 (its next best route)
