Hi Guys,
I need your comments because I'm studying a solution of having one Arcserve manager backing up 9 netware servers. i couldn't have more than 2 servers on one tape:

-I read That Arcserve can manage a library of media(for example tapes), is it true, is it only Arcserve 2000 or also Brightstore 9. if someone has experience with that I would like to have his coments about how it works

-What is the limit of the size of the database that Arcserve Brightstore 9.0 can manage?

-How many clients can Arcserve Brightstore 9.0 manage?

If there is more options with Arcserve 2000, just let me know

I'll appreciate as much comments as you can
thank you guys

Noor,

-ARCserve v9 can manage tape libraries as well as version 2000. It works fine as long as you follow the rules but I guess this counts for every backup solution
- I think the Index database of ARCserve can grow up to 36GB
- As far as I know there is no limit on the amount of clients that can be managed.
- ARCserve for Windows can be used to backup NetWare servers using the Netware Client agents and SMS. The limitations are:
- no automatic failover on NetWare clusters
- no Groupwise Agent functionality (no 'hot backup' of GW)

Hope this helps

Hi,
Not sure if this is a common problem,
I currently run a windows diff backup everynight mon - thur, on friday nights I run a full backup, this backup use to only require 1 40/80 dlt, backing up about 25 - 30Gb. However now it's looking for 3 tapes for the same amount of data.
I have tried new tapes, different tape drives, ran compression tests on the drives, and am satisfied that it is not a drive or media problem, can someone advise as to what I should look for as to whats causing this problem?
I recreated the jobs on arcserve again but still no joy, am I looking at a reinstall?
Thanks for your time.
