Hi,

We had transferred one of our website to off-site(colocation). And it does not work at all. When I tried to access it from our corporate office, it asked for username, password, and domain. When I ping the website from our corporate office, it gives me the old local IP address(192...). However when I VNC to the colocation and pinged it, it gives me the new external IP. Not sure where to start troubleshooting because I am new to IIS and website setup.

Please help. Thank you very much!

Yes, I just look at it and it still pointing to that local IP but we really do not want to delete from the DNS for now because if we cannot setup this website at the colocation today we will have to point it back to our corporate office.

I just asked somebody to access the website not from our colocation or corporate office and they can see the website and can ping to the new IP. But it is inconsistent because we used a wireless Pocket PC to access website and it asked for authenticatiion and went to our local intranet.

I am not sure what is going on. Please help. Thank you.

anything inside your network is going to use your DNS server. Delete it. If it doesn't work recreate it. It will take all of thirty seconds, against asking questions here and waiting for answers.

ok, thank you. I will try that.

Still does not work. There are two web sites on this server. I made sure that host headers are different and it seems like when both websites are being access, it goes go to the default website.

I am still working on this right now but if anybody knows what is the problem, please let me know. I am new to this and I am not sure what is the problem because I followed what is on MS website on how to setup multiple websites on IIS.

Thank you in advance!

Try setting up the local hosts file on the machine your are testing with to reflect the new IP and host names.

eg.

1.2.3.4 hosta.company.com
1.2.3.4 hostb.company.com

The websites are working now using the index.htm however if I replaced it with default.asp, it does not work. Still researching on it. But please let me know if there is something I am missing.

Thank you for being patience with me and for your help. I made it working. Learned a lot.

Creating a unique host headers.

Now, I have a different problem maybe you can help.

I am hosting two websites on the same server with SSL certificate. Both websites have unassigned IP on Web site identification on the web site properties. I know with two websites with SSL cert needs to unique identifiers. My question is can I leave both websites with unassigned IP but assigned a local unique ip for the SSL port?
