I have the following configuration:

Backend on Access97,

Frontend97 with 80 users and a FrontEnd2000 with 20 (all potential users, on average I have only 25 connected users with only 4~5 input of data)

Each user has their own FrontEnd with tables linked to the Backend97 DB

Original Databases are on a c:\sharefolder on a PC "Server". With security installed for all DB.

In order to start their applications each user has two shortcuts on their desktop:

1.- A folder: Linked to the \\server\sharefolder
this is only to be opened and minimized.

2.- Shortcut with the command line:

c:\program...\office\msaceess.exe c:\forntend\frontend.mdb /wrkgrp "\server\sharefolder\_
log.mdw"

I think we need the first shortcut to get "Connected" to the server in order to start the second shortcut.

All folders need to be password protected.

What I need to know is:

1.- Is this configuration correct?
2.- How can I make this two shortcuts only one?

Thanks,

How about mapping the server drive to a local drive letter thus Windows will connect to that machine on boot up.

I was told this makes the server more slow, because all 120 computers will be connected a one same time.

But maybe I am wrong.

Can the netwatcher handle 120 users?

Thanks
