I am using SQL select statements in some code that I am migrating from FPW26 to VFP 6.0. The retrieval of the data is much slower in VFP. The retrieval is used mostly for reporting. Does anyone know the settings for the optimum speed? We usually have 40-60 users running the exe which is located on a Novell server. The data is stored in subfolders on the server.

When you say it's "slower", are you running the exact same code on the same system setup under the same OS?

Since VFP takes a lot more memory than FPW 2.x, to get the same performance, you need more memory on the same system to get the same (or better) performance. If you are running 128MB or less on Win NT / 2000 / XP (96MB or less on 95 / 98 / ME) consider upgrading the workstations RAM - especially if the system normally has any other "major" applications open (e.g. Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).

Given the room to work, I've found queries on VFP 6.0 SP 5 to run faster than on FPW 2.6a.
