setup NetBackup mail alerting

Hi,

We recently started using NetBackup 5.0 for windows on Windows 2003 (previously used arcserve). I've installed Blat and edited the nbmail.cmd script and the dbbackup_notify.cmd to let me know which tape holds the most recent backup of the catalogdatabase. I also want to start using other scripts to mail me the results of the backups.
Now I'm wondering: is there any way to let the scripts automaticly use the administrators emailadres which you set at the masterserver's host properties? Now I have to type this adress in every script that calls the nbmail.cmd script.

I'm not sure how you would get that specific stored setting from a script. I do know that all methods of getting this information in a script are going to be more complex and (more writing in each script) than just putting a static email address in.

You can try setting an environment variable and calling that in your CMD scripts or read it in from a single static file. This way you can change that source and all scripts don't have to be edited if the email target changes. These options will take a small bit more code (with the file method taking the most) but will prevent a lot of editing in the future.

Thanks for that suggestion. I'm curious why Veritas created the "Administrator's e-mail address" field when you can't use it in your scripts. At least it seems like you can't use it because I haven't been able to find how to use it in the documentation.
