As I understand you have like this:
[Win2kProf]----[Router]======={Internet}====[laptop]
If you want VPN, then:
1. if the Win2kProf is serviced by the Router with NAT, then you cannot have an IPSec connection [Win2kProf]-[Laptop], just PPTP. But question is: whay are you using that router? I'm sure that is making NAT! and anyway you cannot address the compuiter from behind of the NAT.
2. If you want to have IPSec then you have to think about having a tunnel IPSec [Router]--[Laptop]. Check your router documentation, see if is supporting IPSec, shared keys, and how to configure these.
On your laptop, via Local Policy/IPSec policies you have to define the policy that you want, and then assign it to an interface.
3. If you want to use PPTP, then should be very simple to configure (again check the documentation of your router).
