setting up snmp on cisco switch

can't see where im going wrong have set up the following

!
snmp-server engineID local 00000009020000070E81BE40
snmp-server community public RW
!

yet when i try and contact it to do a mibwalk i can only ping the device it does not respond to snmp requests.
 
What version of SNMP are you trying to configure? The engineID bit I've only ever seen used with SNMPv3 which typicallyyou only do if you want to use authentication and/or encryption.
