Just upgraded from Exchange 5.5 to Exchange 2003

I now want to setup web access to email, I have set the following:

isp has setup a dns entry to look at my external address: mailhost.xxx.co.uk
mail users have been enabled to use web mail

I have isa 2000 and I think I have enabled the right policies

Can anyone outline all the steps that need to be taken to setup webmail or know of a good site?

I only have one exchange server and will not be adding anymore.

Any help would be much appriciated!

Gary

OWA is installed by default. From inside your network you can test using

From outside you can use

Make sure you got the OWA part right;

You should also look at using Forms Based Authentication so you go over HTTPS instead of HTTP.

I hope you find this post helpful.

Make sure that on this step:
Click Redirect the request to this Internal Web Server, and then enter the IP address of the internal server.

you gave it the Internal IP address.

I would also follow this article as well:

I had the dns name of the exchange server entered but I have now changed it to the ip address but I still can't access mail through the internet!

And you are trying to access it this way from a dial up accoutn or soemthing right? You won't be able to use the external address from inside the domain.

I hope you find this post helpful.

I am trying to access externally, so not in my domain!

Does anyone know of any step by step guides on fully what needs setting for exchange iis and isa 2000, although I have already followed everything I can find?

Thanks
Gary

If OWA works internally then you know you have that setup OK and your problem is with your ISA setup OR you don't have your MX record setup right.

Just for sanity sake, verify all of your security settings in IIS.

Code:
 Default Web site
    Enable Anonymous access
    Integrated Windows Authentication
Exadmin
    Integrated Windows Authentication
    Require SSL
        Require 128 bit
Exchange
    Basic Authentication
        Default Domain \
Exchange-oma
    Integrated Windows Authentication
    Basic Authentication
ExchWeb
    Enable Anonymous access
    Require SSL
        Require 128 bit
Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync
    Scripts and Executables
    Exchange Application Pool
    Basic Authentication
        Default Domain DomainName
OMA
    Scripts Only
    ExchangeMobileBrowseApplicationPool
    Basic Authentication
        Default Domain DomainName
Public
    Basic Authentication
        Default Domain \
    Require SSL

I hope you find this post helpful.
