Setting up OUTLOOK Web Access on Win 2000 Server 1

Hope i am in the right forum...

At this point i have reached the stage where i am only able to access mail internally anywhere on the LAN and not externally...from home or internet cafe.

I am using a Windows 2000 Server, connected to the net though a CISCO 1760 Router.

What am i not doing?

Someone mentioned something to do with enbling IIS, but i cannot remember exactly what that was?

Help???
 
First thing you need to verify is that you have ports 80 and 443 opened up on your firewall.

Your exchange server will already have IIS installed since Exchange can't install without it. Verify that the Default Web Site is running.

First test OWA inside your network. In IE navigate to If OWA is working you then need to look at NAT if your server does not have a public IP on it. make sure that ports 80 and 443 are being NAT'ed to the Exchange server. Then from the external world you would access OWA using example:

Bear with those of us jsut begining...

Most of what you suggested is in place...My server does have a public IP Adress do i still need to make sure the ports you have mentioned are open. If so ...how do i check the the ports???
 
Yes, those ports need to be open. What kind of firewall do you have?

I using the firewall on my router - a CISCO 1760 Router
 
Who is your ISP... Is your ISP blocking Port 80???

Make sure Port 80 and 443 are open and forwding all requests that come in for Port 80 and 443 to the IP of you 2k server running exchange.
