Hi,

I have been attempting to set up the communications between two QM's to use the remote administration fn.

What should the channels, XMITQ be named to enable communication between two QMs (shopuld I use a default object name), and what other objects will also be needed?

Cheers

Opps I also forgot to say that I am attempting to remotely administer a Solaris QM via my NT QM (which is running MQMON). I are not using clusters, so I am attempting to administer a remote QM.

I was a tad confused by the SERVER QUEUE and COMMAND QUEUE descriptions in the PDF manual. Is the SERVER QUEUE the remote queue definition of the remote server's command queue ?

What about communication being sent back from the remote QM ... do I need a reply to queue?

Is the manual corrdct about when it states that I would need a program such as MQMON to browse remote queue messages (but not remote queues I assume)?

Sounds like I may be implementing this very wrongly ! If anyone has suggestions then please let me know !

Thanks .. and sorry about the long post .... this MO71 is getting to me !

Cheers

Hi John,

to remotely administer QMGR's you do not need a QMGR on your NT workstation, just the MQS Client
or
as a prerequisite.
Next you define manually a reply-to-queue (default name MQMON) for the command replies and a channel (i.e. server connection) with runmqsc/csqutil.
But this is the only thing you have to do manually on the related QMGR's.
You now can test your connection.

In my company we administer OS/390 and AIX / HPUX QMGR's

Hi, i have a MqSeries Server on a linux machine, and i want to administer it using a gui. Now i have the MO71 softpac and the Mq Client. Is this enough? How i have to configure it?

Thanx!

Alex

Hi Alex,

in the softpac, Paul Clarke has described how to configure his tool (mqmon.pdf)
