SETTING UP CDR NORTEL OPT 11C 1

Can someone help me out?
Trying to set up CDR on Nortel Opt. 11c. using SDI port # 2
I have turned on CDR in load 15. Turned on CDR for the routes in load 16. Have programmed TTY 2 with user=cty in load 17, also set the baud parity and stop to match my Pollcat buffer box.
I have tried everything I can think of except initializing the switch. It seems I have heard or read that if you change the SDI port, it won't take effect until ini is complete. ?? Maybe the same for changing routes?
Does anyone know for sure if I have to ini the switch for my CDR to start outputting?
Any help is greatly appreciated.

you shouldn't have to ini the switch, just make sure cty is in user and it will work.. could be a hardware issue as well, dte to dte dce to dce would require a null modem adapter. when i've had that type of problem i've removed cdr and set the tty up as a maint term to verify that the tty is talking to the switch
