I need to transfer the configuration on on older router to a new router. The LAN interfaces are a bit different on the new router (GB interfaces instead of 100MB and a VLAN on a network switch module). I am pretty confident that those will not be an issue to configure. My primary concern is the three T1 interfaces on the new router. Will simply copying over the existing config on the old router to the new be sufficient to get these T1s to work? Just plug them in and we're off? This is a first time for me and I don't want to screw it up.

First you will need a TFTP Server. I recommend Pumpkin from Klever Group. You can find it on google.then backup your old config to the TFTP server with copy flash tftp command. then on the new router do copy tftp flash. then reload the new router with the reload command. all this is done at the # prompt.

I thank you for your reply, but that part I can deal with. I've done that before. I am just extremely nervous about the T1s coming back up. I hate to sound like a big baby, but I just can't believe it will all go so smoothly.

yep you going to have to reconfig the T1 interfaces since there name or slot number are diffrent.

What type and model is old router and new router?

Old is a 3662 with two network modules for the T1s, and the new is a 3825 with two network modules for the T1s and a network module for the switch.

Are you running some like the following in the 3662

1 x nm2fe2w + 2 x wic-1dsu-t1

We have a 1E2W with two WIC1DSUT1s and one 2E2W with two WIC1Ts (only one being used) that is connected to a Kentrox DSU-CSU for the third T1.

Maybe can save you some frustration.....

wic-1dsu-t1 are not compatible the the new ISR routers 1800, 2800, & 3800 series routers. For these routers you must use wic-1dsu-t1-V2. Also am not sure if those older netowrk modules will work, you might need a NM-1FE2W-V2 or a NM-2FE2W-V2. Doule check that but am sure on the T1 cards.

Thanks for the reply. We are getting two new VWIC-2MFT-T1/E1s for the 3825. Four brand spanking new jacks for the T1s. I just need to make the new one do what the old one did. I need four interfaces for our existing LANs and the two GB interfaces built in and the VLAN on the HWIC-D-9ESW will take care of them. I am just freaking out over the T1s. Is it as simple as configuring the new VWICs like the old interfaces on the 3662? Am I making this harder than it is?

Sorry...didnt ask first if you were planning to re-use old network modules and t1 cards or if you already have the new hardware.

If configured correcly should be fine.

Cool. I sure hope so. Thanks for all of your help.

Great! Thank you again, very much.
