Has anyone setup a G350 w/8300 module LSP mode to a S8700. I would like to know if the stations reside on the G350 or on the 8700.. meaning do I need to add more stations on the 8700 ? When one changes a station where does one change the programming ?

yes.. the licensing is off the s8700. We just put one of these in. One big thing to note, is the G350 with s8300 will hold two 24 port boards, but you can only have a max of 40 stations on the g350.

The station programming is done on the s8700,its basically another gxxx gateway. The system saves the translations down to the 8300 every night. While the s8300 is in "slave mode" if you will, you can change the translatoins on the 8300, but you cannot save them. (a warning box shows up and tells you this when you log in.)

Not sure if you save translations on the 8300 while its IN lsp mode, how the translations get back to the 8700?

The other wierd thing is the g350 does not follow the epn numbering scheme, ie 1a, 2a, 3a, etc... it now shows up as 1v, I'd assume a second 350 would show up as 2v.

Okay, thanks but just to confirm and make sure that i understand this..

I will need to buy more station ports to accomodate the users on the G350/(8300) on the S8700/main node.

When I make changes to stations while the g350 is working off of the S8700 .. changes are made on the 8700 much like a local extension/station.

but..

When making changes to the G350 while it's in Survivable remote mode.. one needs to dial into the G350 and makes appropriate changes.. ( once the link/connectivity to the 8700 is restored -- what changes will be permenant.. the changes on the 8700 or the changes on the G350/(8300)that were made during the loss of connectivity?

So I take it that I still need to get an RFA liscense for the G350 and the 8300 as well.. or there is no need other than creating a gateway on the 8700(main node). In order to load the software on the G350... ?

I gottah feeling that I should have just went with a stand alone G350 as opposed to a LSP .. things seem simpler as a stand alone. !!!!

Thanks
