Hey there guys. I have been asked if I could set up a file download in while I can send clients an HTTP address that they can connect to and download a file. The computer is behind a linksys router, and the files must have an expiry date for them. How do I set this up, FTP server? or is there an easier way, ive really never tackled this task before. Thanks

Justin

ok I have used ISS to se this up. Now I just need help with the Router port setting. I am running a 3com Office Connect HUB8/TDO. It works within the network but I cannot get through from outside the internal network of computer

Linksys routers use Network Address Translation (NAT), this basically acts as a very simple firewall. With a firewall you must open up ports or windows to allow certain services or protocols acces to the network.

Some popular ones are:
HTTP 80 (most web pages)
FTP 20,21

You also need to what is called demilliterize the web server. I have never used this so I'm not real failmure with and how it works. May be one of the other guys can explain this to you.

Hope I've helpped.
