I have set up a web server and am using my hosting company to hold the zone record and forwarding it to my static IP at home. I was wondering where I should start so I can host the zone record or if it is even possible. I do web design in Tampa Florida and want to be able to set up a DNS Server but don't even know where to begin. Also, I have one static IP address now. If I wanted to host more sites than one for now, would I just set up a new site and point them all to the same IP and let my web server tell it where to go from there. How do you get it to where they have seperate IP addresses? If I sound confused, I am. Thanks for any help in advance. David A. Prichard

Well, you have some reading to do I think :)

First of all, DNZ domains are called zones on the DNS server. One DNS server can host all the zones you want, you just need to tell the company you bought the domain from that you have the authorative server for that zone.

You need to get BIND (or similar) to run a DNS server.

It's not as bad as it sound but you need to understand how the DNS system works.
