I have an external program that converts space delimited text into seperate Access2000 tables for the source database. I then have another Access2000 database linked to this because the first is always overwritten with new data on a daily basis. I need the output data in the linked file to be a mixture of text and number format defined by me. I have not been able to accomplish this because if i set the data field type in the source database, upon data update, it overwrites all of my predefined formats. I also cannot set formatting in the linked database because it will not allow linked table formatting. There has to be away around this. I am new to access so script writing is not an option. Can anyone enlighten me to a solution here or am i barking up the wrong tree.

Thankyou,

Wax

Sounds as if the external program is re-creating table(s) and then populating them. Check out MichaelRed's comments as an alternate remedy to your earlier post on '+" and concatenation.

See thread181-51358.
