Hey there ppl;

I recently started using Mozilla 1.6...and it has an email client I'd like to try to use.....

However, I use juno/netzero as an ISP...and can;t stand the email interface, yet want to keep the dialup service...

Can I configure Mo to retrieve my juno email, so I don't even have to use the stupid juno interface???

I can get a lot of email header info from my incomings to juno...don't know if it's POP (post office protocol) or SMTP (simple mail transport protocol)...probably SMTP.

Don't know how to configure "Incoming" (use POP or IMAP???)(mail.example.net)

and "Outgoing Server" (POP or IMAP???)

Never understood this stuff....or WHERE to find the correct info to enter in these fields....

Plz help..
Thanx

p.s. Would it help to post "some" email Header info???

thanks for replying smah;
but that's not usable info for me....and after thinking more about it, It isn't going to be able to be accomplished....atleast not the way I want to do it..
I'm trying to not ask a possibly illegal question i guess...

Maybe you could point me somewhere to learn more on my own, so i don't step on any toes and/or post anything inappropriate..
thanks

After looking a little further around their sites, I'm guessing that you're trying to prepare for the changes being implemented on June 1st?

I suspect that you'll have to wait until that time to see exactly how it's implemented in order to come up with a solution to your problem. There may not be much that you can do about it.

Didn't notice any june1 changes coming, but i'll say, if it sucks, I'm gone.....I realize that i'll have to pay for a local isp to use a decent email proggie. I can't stand the stupid proprietary rules imposed sometime ~'96-'97, (i guess our wonderful telecomm bill of '96 helped give that freedom away)....that you HAVE to use their proggies JUST to access the darn bandwidth that you pay $$ for.....
Anyways.off to my dungeon again[smile]
see ya soon
thanx again

The link I posted above didn't take you exactly where I wanted because of the javascript. Currently you can use OE, Moz or any other mail client. Click here. If you don't see mail server information, then follow the 'Juno 6 or QS' link. You will find the mail server settings that you can currently use with Moz. (replace 'Juno' with 'Netzero' if using that service)

Here's what happens after June 1st:

smah;
I lightweighted my load down to IE4.0, 4.72.3110 before installing Moz...and I ripped Shockwave, WSHost, and VBScript 6 out by the roots basically....and still using MSJava VM 4.79....
My Security settings are just tweaked just enough to allow sites like this in(*.cfm, *.php, *.asp, *.mspx all work fine)......so my java works.....and there's some remnants of VB5 in my REG...

All in all, I'm happy with what i'm using..It serves me well....However once in a while stupid javascript:"Void"(..) appears in staus bar on 'certain' sites'....

All Your links from TekTips are just fine (including the first one)....and take me there(to Juno's page)...It's juno's stupid web page that sucks..every click on anything keeps 'looping' and looping back to crud....so...

I don't care if you Cut and Paste 10 pages of text here...this is my thread to use...right???

So Paste away (if possible) my good friend [smile]
I Appreciate your help

Here's the juno stuff:

Mail Server Addresses

Outgoing mail(SMTP) Server: smtp.juno.com
Incoming mail(POP3) Server: pop.juno.com
E-mail address: memberid@juno.com
Username: memberid@juno.com
Password: Your Juno password
Maximum E-mail size (including attachments): 6.5 MB for Platinum members
5 MB for Free users
Individual E-mail Box Size: 10 MB for Platinum members
2 MB for Free users

Note: If you manually configure your e-mail program for Juno e-mail, you may not be able to access the program directly by clicking the e-mail button on the JunoPort / Platinum Toolbar. While online, you will need to open your e-mail program through the normal method, typically found under the Windows Start button by selecting Programs.

Like I said, I can't tell you exactly where to put this information into your Moz account settings, but it should be there somewhere.

Well alrighty then......atleast i've got sumtin' to work with.....
thank you

I can figure all the rest out myself now, especially when Moz has a very useful help file and along with the "about:config" thing,...i'll manage....way cool.

I'll futz with it when I've got time.

BTW..What's the June1 info......???
Oh do tell, plz
[smile]
thanx again
ps. if i could give 2 stars......[edit]...hey I can....woohoo!!

It would be a pain to paste here. I'll put it on one of my sites for a few days. You can access it here.

well...actually it let me do the stars(walk through the motions, with the 'choose' and 'close' wndws) ...but i guess it don't show up....which is ok, i guess.......i'm sure there's great reasons for this behavior....but hey......I tried

FWIW, the exact same thing is on the Netzero site (only the name was changed) and 1 star is more than enough.

i wanna give ya a kiss now....[noevil]

[bI've got the d/l...[/b] thanx

And it seems it won't affect me (at quick glance)
as I'm a $$$ member....

come grab me, if you ever need Anything over in the 95/98 forums usually....
I'm quite good at finding most everything exceptwhen having to wade through crappy/poorly written web pages .......I know bits and pieces about all this stuff...really here and there to me, nothing comprehensive...more learning needed as time goes by...
thanx again smah

and i realize Moz is really a modular self-kinda-contained browser sys which is based on unix, more or less i think, which possibly explains the broken java in certain pages....it was much worse in IE6 (tempermental)..and we all know anything IE 5.0 and up is really spyware we can all do without anyway....

I was going to uninstall msjava and put in sun java, and possibly will at a later time...but my OEM ver. doesn't uninstall so easily..not even if using mtsutil...I'll work it out though (I'll modify the install inf and run the uninstall command string at some point )

again Kudos to you smah
