Hi All,

I am trying to set up an E1. I have done this before but seem to be having problems this time.

My setting from Provider are:
Protocal: Euro ISDN (Numeris)
Line Coding: HDB3
Framing Type: Double Framing
Long Haul: Short

My IP Office Setup is:
Line Sub Type: ETSI CHI
Number of Channels: 30
Channel Allocation: 30 -->1
Clock Quality: Network
Line Signaling: CPE

The physical connection comes up and the port lights green but the trunk remains out of service. Any help?

What type of PRI card do you have?
If we setup a PRI line we use ETSI as subline type and use either CRC or not as framing type and leave the rest at default and it never fails.
Unless the provider did not enable the trunk then we get what you have, physical link is ok but no calling. Then we call the provider and let them make the line active on their side.

Intrigrant is right.
ISDN setup is the easiest there is.
Plug it in and if you have a green led then it is almost for a 100% ok.
Enter the prefix and CRC is needed (you can see this in monitor if it is needed or not, it will trow a lot of errors)

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

I am using a universal PRI card. I know this should be simple. I have done it before. I am also certain that the trunk is up because the IP office is replacing a Nortel Option 11 which had the same trunk terminated on it. Any other suggestions?

Do you use a isdn30 cross cable?
If not then try one.
You need to cross pairs 1/2 with pairs 4/5

That would normally be just ETSI, only certain providers support ETSI CHI :)

Take Care

I have always wished that my computer would be as easy to use as my telephone.
My wish has come true. I no longer know how to use my telephone.

Can you make a monitor trace, select only ISDN lauer 1 to 3 and start with the trunk disconnected, then connect the trunk and post the results.
Then I can maybe tell you what is wrong.
Do this for the line setup as ETSI and again as ETSI CHI ( which should work as well )

make sure your locale is not incorrect set to USA or somewhere else that might be using T1 instead of ETSI
also make sure the NTE has the correct termination type (120 ohm)

as previously stated the correct way to install an ETSI trunk is to simply plug it in, It just works!

A Maintenance contract is essential, not a Luxury.
Do things on the cheap & it will cost you dear

I do have the system set to US as the local. I did think that was the problem. Will try this.
