Quick, silly question....

how do you set the timeout on XP before the comp locks down the active login. For some reason my machine locks down when I look away for more than two minutes and I have to ctrl-alt-delete to get back in. I want to set it to 15 minutes or so.

It's not clear whether you mean the screensaver timeout or the power save settings so here's both.

Screensaver
1) Right-click on a blank area of the desktop (or use 'Start > Settings > Control Panel > Display') and select the 'Properties' option.
2) Select the 'Screen Saver' tab.
3) If a screensaver is selected, check the 'Wait' value to see if is set to 2 minuts and whether the 'On resume, password potect' checkbox is ticked.

Power saving
1) Whilst still on the 'Screen Saver' tab, click on the 'Power' button (or use 'Start > Settings > Control Panel > Power Options'.
2) Check the timeout settings and, on the 'Advanced' tab, whether the 'Prompt for password when computer resumes from standby' checkbox is ticked.

Hope this helps...

Screensaver timeout. Actually, both are good thing to know. Thanks.
