I have an odd one. This one set keeps getting DSBL'd by the midnights. I've replaced the jack and then the phone.
It doesn't happen every night now, but gets disabled every now and then.

For this TN on a call, I get errors like this:
ERR080 14 0 0 15 8
ERR080 14 0 0 15 64

So, yeah: ERR0080: key input from software-unequipped addon module. Action: check SL-1 telephone dat. Ensure that add-on module is defined and that key number is less than that key.

This is a regular 2008 with no extension keypad though.

I haven't moved the phone to another TN, should I do that, is the card or port just messed up? I suspect a wiring/crosstalk type issue though, because when you're on a call on the set sometimes you hear some crackling noises.

Anyone seen anything like that?

Thanks,
Ben

I would have to say that moving the phone to another TN as you suggested, has to be one the the trouble shooting steps, since it's just 1 phone.

I would definately swap the phone to another TN, and look to see if the problem follows the phone, or the TN.

I would POST the TNB here First before doing anything else.

This is an Analogy so don't take it personally as some have.

Why change the engine if all you need is to change the spark plugs.

Hi Triton101,
Thanks for weighing in on this one. Yeah, I will definitely try that.

I also left out an important thing, this is a clean room that gets sprayed down a lot. They are supposed to cover the phone but don't always.

error 80 in the middle of the day here, i know someone shared a cup of coffee with the phone.. if the idu matches the as built, then the switch usually sees more then one key pressed at a time..

several times when we get a large string of err 80;s on a set i build a tic.. the repairman takes a new phone out before the user calls the help desk... they do seem surprised when we ask what they spilled on the phone.. dropping one can cause that as well..

if you plug in a 2616 to to tn built as a 2008, each of the left hand keys will generate an err 80...

I'm convinced it's a problem with the jack or wiring somewhere. I went in the clean room today and with a replacement phone, heard the same noises (snap, crackle pop style) with the new phone.

Thanks everyone for your input. This forum is really amazing, you are all very generous and talented. I wish some of the other forums I use (web programming stuff) were anywhere near as good as this one.

Have you tried plugging the phone in at the Demarc in the phone room to see if it works there? if it works the then move to the next cross connect point moving toward the wall jack where it was plugged in.

You haven't posted the TNB yet.

Was the line previously an Analogue line as there is the Flux capacitor that can cause the crackling on the phone, i would also check all the wiring terminations as this could also cause an issue.

Hey all,
It's been a 2008 digital since it was installed back in 1995.

Here's the TNB.
