Hi list! I am trying to figure out the best way to set the location of a database at run time in my vb 6 (sp5) application. I don't think my users will need to set database location often but I want to put an option to be able to if shares or drive letters change. Anyway since I am using a DSN less ADO connection to the database I would like to set a constant equal to the DB location. I don't know if I should store this in a text file and read and or reread it when the application is opened or changed? Anyway any information you could send my way would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance,

kgk

This seems an ideal application to use the registry via GetSetting and SaveSetting

johnvm,

getsetting and savesetting aren't VB6 methods are they? I tried looking them up on the msdn site and have not found any information on them. Could you point me in the direction of where to find info on these methods. Thanks for the help.

never mind, I did a search on tek-tips and found plenty of information on getsetting and savesetting. Thanks for the input.
