I have a Definity ECS version 11 and would like to know if I can service observe trunk lines (either T1 or copper)not agent extensions or vdn's.

You will need to set up a button on your phone to do this. It is a "verify" button. Hit it the trunk group code and the member. I am pretty sure you will need to set up your phone with console permissions "display COS". That should get it going for you.

Thanks, I set the verify button and have the right COS. When I enter the TAC and the member number, my display reads "bridged" but I only hear a series of beeps, long and about 5 seconds apart. Should I be doing anything else? Also, will that line know that I am monitoring? These members are on a PRI T1 and are out outgoing lines that are coming from our inbound 800 lines.

That is pretty much it. If they are on digital set their display will show as a bridged call. The tone you hear is the "service observe warning tone". It is found on the "change system-parameters features" form.

I think you will have seized an idle trunk, this is why you get dial tone rather than a conversation
