service mode on tapes

Not so easy as the actual screens vary with the version.
First of all, go to Devices, not to Media.
Select the defective drive, open its properties and look for the tab where you enable/disable it. Try to re-enable it.
If the problem re-appears/persist, get somebody to fix the hardware.
