Mr Jibbles -
If it is possible, you DO want to run the redundant Power supplies from different AC sources. Definitely not from the same outlet or wall circuit, preferably from a differnt circuit breaker in your power panel, and if possible from a different power company circuit supplying power to your building. I was in a high rise once where the building had access to completely different power grids - an unusual situation. If you're running a Data Center size UPS, it doesn't matter that much, but if you're running individual UPS's, it's nice to improve your odds that if power to one UPS fails, power to the other won't have failed at the same time. You're protecting yourself against local power interruptions - secretaries plugging in too many electric heaters and popping a breaker, facilities staff plugging in a floor buffer where they shouldn't, etc.
