We run Legato Networker in our datacenter for our Unix systems. The question has come up from some of our operators as to "why when launching the Networker program from a quick launch in Windows that networker only sees certain servers and misses others when connecting. We can manually connect to the other servers through networker and they will add to the list under Nwetworker Servers. Is there a configuration change needed from our Unix admins or is their something within Legato we can do so we don't have to manually reconnect to many servers?

I assume you run a NW version less than 7.3. In this GUI, it will take a while for the NW servers and clients will pop up. However, it will only search the local subnet. If you want to permanently see other 'remote' NW servers, you should add their hostnames in ..\nsr\res\rservers.

Thank You so much 605 for your timely response. I just have a few questions still in response. We did try and add in the directory patch you described and restarted Legato. It didn't see our new servers. Here's a twist, we found the add remote servers options in the drop down. Now when we restart Legato it sees the newly added servers and also updates the file in that file path you suggested. Kind of weird it updated one way and not the other..Okay second part. So either way thanks to your help we did find a way to add the servers. Here's the second part. Even though it see the new servers and adds them to the list on the left hand side under Network Servers we still have to double click to technically "connect" to the new servers instead of it being auto connected. Sorry about bugging you we are just rtying to get this worked out and learn along the way. Thank You for your assistance!

First of all, it is hard to help you as we can not clearly figure out what you are talking about. We neither know the OS not the NW version yet. We are just guessing so far.

So please give us some details.

Sorry it's Networker 7.2 and the OS is Win XP Serv pack 2

Reading through your mail again i think you just expect the normal behavior. The rservers file is for monitoring remote servers (i.e. to see its pending requests). If you want to connect to another server for administration, you must manually connect later.

If you want to change the server name when you start the program, you must change the icon's properties or run "nswadmin -s server_name"
appropriately.
