IBM Netfinity 4500R.
ServeRaid card 4M.

ibm.com says the card is compatible with the server. But when I ut it in, seems like it's just a wee bit too tall and when the top cover is replaced I fear that it's pushing down on the card and system board.

Anyone have any thoughts?

If you are cabling the card to the SCSI backplane via internal channel connection, it will be too tall if the retainer for the SCSI cable is attached. Remove the retainer clip and it fits.

retainer clip, retainer clip..... where be this retainer clip, please?

the retainer clip is on the scsi backplane which is the card that the hot swap drives plug in to. Follow the path of the cable from the 4m to the hot swap backplane and you shold see a retainer clip.

It's at the end of the SCSI cable. Should be prety easy to spot - it's the piece the cover hits first :)
