When creating a ServerAgent Operator, I use Outlook and select names from the address book but when I TEST the operator sometimes I get a goofy errror stating the the name couldn't be found in the address book. Of course the name displayed in the error msg is a concatenation of 2 names, i.e. for Smith, Bill and Bear, Fred the msg will list Bear, Frill (Fred and Bill). And Fred Bear will be the guy who doesn't get the email.
Has anyone seen the phenomenon before?
Can you choose multiple recipients when creating the Operator?
For the Notification part here are my questions...
I have a job where each step updates a different table and in the email notification I want it to show the status of each step instead of just the overall job. It does show that level of detail in the Job's history.
Can I get that level into the email notification?
Can you only select 1 operator per job?
This information is poorly documented by Microsoft, even in the MSDN. I have spent way too much time looking into what should be a simple straightforward task.
Also if anyone has knowlege of how to grant these permissions to a user, that would also be appreciated.

Thanks for taking the time to help me out.

Gday Bob,

For starters, I'd create an Exchange group called something like SQLGuys and add your Exchange users into it.

Then in the SQL Operators, just refer to the SQLGuys group. I know this works coz I do it myself.

As for getting the status of steps within a job, hmmmm - not sure you can do it.

cheers
