Currently have NT 4.0 PDC. Bought a new server with Server2003.

What steps are usually involved in getting the two communicating to each other?

My goal is to get Server2003 running with NT 4.0, then upgrading 4.0 to Server2003 so there's no down time.

I think that situation would be rather common but I can't find much and to my amazement Server2003 appears to be oblivious to the current NT 4.0 domain. I'm getting no transfers, wizards, nothing on migrating people over, I was hoping to turn it on, it detect there's a 4.0 domain would I like to move people over to server 2003 with Active Directory, enter license information and away I go.

I guess something that helpful and obvious will always be a far grasp for Microsoft.

Anyone help me in the right direction of what steps are usually involved in going from an NT 4.0 PDC to Server2003? Thanks!

Your best bet might be to upgrade your NT 4 to AD. That will bring your sam database into AD. Then you can join your new 2003 server into your new AD domain as another DC. An alternative would be to migrate, but that is a lot of prep and work.
