We have a Win2k3 server with 2 network cards installed. We originally planned on using the 2nd card to load-balance, but because we had ongoing WINS issues, we decided to flat-out disable the 2nd network card, and re-build the server with all services utilizing the only enabled network card left.
Sometime 2 days ago, we had various issues with our trust setup between our domain and another, WINS resolution was acting flaky, and our browser list was constantly changing. After hours of troubleshooting, we found that the 2nd network card was enabled again. The only administrator here knows he did not enable the card on purpose, and no one else has access to be able to do that. That leaves me to believe a program or service came along and re-enabled the card again.
My question is, what could cause this card to re-enable itself? What service could be running on it that can cause this? The Win2k3 server is running in native AD mode, and we have only one domain here (though as I stated before, we setup a trust with another domain, as our email is outsourced to another entity). Thanks for any assistance.
