Running Exchange 5.5 on WinNT. After I do a recovery for one of my backups I am unable to see all of the Server Recipients and more specifically the one I am looking for. The Information Store list is correct. I have about 3,000 users but only see 531. I run the IS/DS Consistency Checker and it completes correctly but Server Recipients list is still incorrect. I have removed Exchange 5.5 about 2 times trying to get this resolved. Thanks.

You might be out of luck unless you also have a backup of the directory and are restoring to the same machine you backed up from (or one with the same machine name)

The consistence checker only creates recipients who are the primary owners of a mailbox. No custom recip's dls etc.

On the off chance that the old server is still around you can transfer the directory but not much chance of that eh.

Whatever happens it could be worse, you got your IS back up...

I will look into the backup of the directory to see if it is being accomplished.

All of my users are the priamry owners of their mailboxes. Some have extra users but even the ones with more than one person with permissions got backed up.

Actually I am a pack rat and still have the old server sitting in the back. I was going to make it something else but I may hold off on that.

Your right I have my IS and that is better then where I was 1 month ago. Thanks.

If you have the old server under Tools you can export the directory to a text file and then import that on the new one.

Careful with the seperators, I seem to remember needing to change the defaults for some reason. Cant hurt to look at the output from an export anyways to see if the import would get what you are missing.
