I'm in a computer networking class in high school, and we're putting together a Windows 2000 server. We already have it installed but could use direction of what to do now. For example: connecting computers, file sharing...

any help would be nice! thanx

First of all rebyctun, sounds like a fun class you're in. As to what can you do next;
1. Test your connectivity to the server from a client to see if it works
2. Are you planning on running any services (ie AD/DNS/DHCP) on this server -- you can work with that next and start adding client to the domain and start playing with creating accounts, groups, OUs etc.
3. Create some file shares and learn how to secure folders in those shares
4. If your computer is powerful enough, you can also start playing with IIS and setup an in class web server.
5. You can download evals of MS software to play with like Exchange,
Hope this helps.

Are you looking for documentation on how to do everything you would want to do with the server, including the following: concepts, checklists, "how to", best practices.... and is extremely organized with cross referencing, index and search capability and won't cost you a dime?

Start>help

I have books at home that span several feet accross on the subject you ask and to me, the help in windows is the most usefull. If I could make any other recomendation, it would be a windows 2000 server book.

As for my personal recommendations on what to do next, I'd follow the windows 2000 server book as a guide as they typically have labs built into the textbook where you do hands on configuring the server.
