I am setting up a server for a max of 50 people, the services I would like to include will be:

1. Streaming media (music videos/movies)
2. Update services for workstations (windows updates)
3. Domain access for all connected users

I will be setting up a multiple drives in a raid configuration (5) since it will give me the most bang for my buck in regards to redundancy, space and read speeds. I was wondering in order to power such an application of hardware, what type of setup would you recommend? Should I get dual opteron processors? 2 gigs of ram or 4? Any other tips you can suggest would be great. Thank you for your time.

Nothing wrong with the 1800...

Possibly the PE 2800, few extra motherboard slots, 8 drive bays, verus 6 with the 1800. the 2800 is a fast server , large (long), well built, fans are a bit loud.

Get the Perc4 dual embedded raid adapter, split backplane,
if you only need the amount of of internal drive bays, the Perc4 DC addin board if you need external scsi storage. Not sure you would benefit from 15K scsi drives over 10K drives

2 gig will run fine, with ram, the more the better

Dual power supply

How much capacity do you need, have you selected the drives and rpm ? I would not recommend the bare min number of drives for raid 5, best to have 4 to 6 drives over two channels for speed, a raid 1 (2-36gig drives) for the OS for safety.
