Why wont my server extensions work?

tim

Please be more specific...

What OS are you using?
What IIS version are you using?
What version of FP Server Extension are you using?
What have you done already?
What error messages are you getting?
or
why do you think it does not work?

I have the same question. I am currently using Microsoft personal web server. I am hoping that win2K has something better, or a better version of what they have. I found an htm file for FP setup, but when I filled out the form, it asked me to download a DLL by putting up the "download" screen up. I am new to this and am going in circles. I have FP2000. Thank you.

Thank you.

I also know that Front Page 2002 is a good buy. Many new features and great wizards, including a forms page wizard. I will try to take the time to write up a step by step process, but I would strongly recommend FP2002.

I will deffinitly look into that. The form I hoave down pat, it would be great if the values were automatic (i.e. you could use an option to make the value of the checkbox or otherwise equal the text to the left of the box, or in the field to the left.) I work with huge form and it takes me forever. I usually fill in the form names in HTML with FP because it's faster. There is no help associated with the extension sufficiant enough for a new user. Thank you for the FP2002 info, I will check that out. I want to see the new features.

I found out server extensions can be enabled through IIS. But you have to clear your webfolder to do it.

I currenlty have a IIS Server that has numerous IIS5.0 Sites and FTP sites located on it. Of course it is an Active Directory Domain Controller. Unfortunately, I had to lock down the Server with IIS Lockdown tool and installed the latest Microsoft pre-sp4 hot fix to protect from hacking. Once I accomplished all of the above the IIS sites that were currently on the server could check server extensions, modify to FP2000 or FP2002,----BUT I cannot chose anything but the permissions wizard for any new additional sites that I would like to add. I need to add extensions to the new sites but it is no longer an option. What can I do to fix this problem? Is the lockdown tool stoping the SmartHTML Interpretor from allowing the extensions to be used? Any assistance would greatly be appreciated!!!

I could find out for you, but I am still learning the whole security issue, I was doing everyting manually, but it is soo confusing after a while. Then again, I am a newbie to being my own host. I understand that Apachy (err) is the best server prog out there. I am only trying to stick to whats free right now, I am still in the testing phase. My server extension can only be re-installed when my publicHTML folder is empty.
