Hi,

My W2K server keeps disappearing from Win Explorer. There is correct entry in DNS and Wins. Can be accessed by path (\\servername) and can be mapped to. Replies to ping by name and by IP. I’m running DFS on this server and users "can't find it".
What am I missing? Thanks for the help.

is netbios over tcp/ip enabled ? --------------------------------------------------------------------
How can I believe in God when just last week I got my tongue caught in the roller of an electric typewriter?

I have not failed, I've just found 10,000 ways that don't work

Yes, it is enabled.

Another browsing problem - get a lot of these here :-) !

some suggestions

Check computer browser service is running correctly on Server.

Use browstat utility from (resource kit- I think) find out which is the master browser - should be a server - if it's a PC you have your problem. You can restrict PCs from entering elections for master browser through reg setting.

Check master browser status and it's record in WINS.

Try rebooting server if possible.

Post more if you get any more clues.

Cheers

I gave up and reinstalled the server.
