First of all this server was on my test network so this is just a learning experience not life or death. I had 5.1 on this server and was upgrading to 6.5 (this was the second server in tree to be upgraded, already successfully upgraded Master to 6.5). During the upgrade I chose not to keep server backup due to space constraints (this won't happen agian!). The upgrade failed and I don't plan on reloading it or replacing it in the tree. Do the TID's on removing a crashed server from NDS (vs. edir) apply? (was in file copy when it died) Also if any of you have experience with NWDEPLOY, have you ever seen it blow up on server.exe copy... has happened to me twice now using NWDEPLOY from an XP workstation.

HEY, WATCH THIS!

regarding removal of the server.

You should carefully be sure that you have configured the two servers and the migration workstation exactly in accordance with the recommendations. I also have seen that 100 mb half duplex is a better network connection for this activity, and you should verify that your entire network channel (switch, cards, etc) are configured accordingly.

I had a similar issue that turned out to be McAfee on the XP client that was denying access to server.exe because it thourght it was suspicous. Once AV was turned off the installation went ok. Dont know if this is connected to your issue though. From experience NWDeploy does seem a bit flakey on XP so follow the advice above if you're going to try it again.
