Hello, I'm new to working with MS SQL, I wonder if someone can help me with a problem that I am having.
I am running SQL 2000 on an NT 4 machine locally. Everything was working fine, until I have all of a sudden, not been able to connect to the local server that I had set up. When I try to connect to the server I get an error that says:
"A connection could not be established to SERVER.
Reason: Encryption not supported on SQL Server
ConnectionOpen (PreLoginHandshake())..
Please verify SQL Server is running and check your SQL Server registration properties (by right-clicking on the SERVER node) and try again."
Well, Server registration properties did not really have many options to modify, and nothing helped. I gather that this may be a bit of a common problem. The server books online mentions the error, and contains a link to the Microsoft troubleshooters page on the web, but the page is "temporarily unavailable" and doesn't look to have been updated since March this year.
If anyone can help me with information about what caused this problem, and what I can do to fix it, I would appreciate it.
Thanks.
Peter.
