I am running cf 4.5 on an NT 4.0 box with dual 550s and I get this timeout several times a day.

Error Diagnostic Information

Server busy or unable to fulfill request. The server is unable to fulfill your request due to extremely high traffic or an unexpected internal error. Please attempt your request again (if you are repeatedly unsuccessful you should notify the site administrator). (Location Code: 25)

I have checked out the cfsever settings but see nothing out of the ordinary.

I was wondering if this is a bug in 4.5 since it never happen under 4.0.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would watch the current connections and current ISAPI extension requests in the performance monitor. If you notice that the current isapi extension requests (cf requests in most cases) is high, then it is likely a genuine issue with too many requests. Even on heavily used systems, your cf request count should rarely be higher than 5-10 and should be more of sharp spikes. If you see the requests lingering for more than a few seconds, I would suspect a problem script or either a database connection problem. The "current connections" graph will be the opposite in that it will generally be about 2-4 times the number of active visitors and the connections do linger somewhat. I think it's a good idea to regularly watch your server's patterns in the performance monitor so you know what's normal. I've been able to spot problems in the past using the perf. monitor as it gives a good idea of what's happening on your server. If you get the error at times when the ISAPI extension requests are low, then I would suspect some type of bug. I haven't heard anything in regards to a 4.5.1 issue along those lines but they have had a lot of bugs in miscellaneous tags. I don't recall any that would give the error your seeing.

Two questions though. What is your "simultaneous connections" setting in the CF admin and does the problem go away or do you have to restart CF?

Good luck,
GJ
